And then ... I thought

Lately I have been doing a lot of thinking about life. When people ask me about being a teacher in Vietnam or when I was in Korea, I always give this rote answer about wanting to see the world while not being independently wealth. I talk about the perks of being a teacher in SE Asia. To be fair, teaching in SE Asia does have some perks. But it is also rewarding - most of the time.

To teach is to help shape the hearts and minds of countless people, young and old, and any other way you want to compare people. Teachers and students talk about sounds, then words, then ideas. And it is the ideas we create that make us who we are.

Spend some time thinking today. Then spend a little more time.

My thoughts for today:
  1. I am not perfect. In fact, I am as about as far from perfect as one can be. And that is OK.
  2. I will never be thin: unless there is a Zombie Apocalypse.
  3. It is hard to quit smoking.
  4. Refer to myself as "beautiful," or "awesome," or "great" almost every day of the week. I'm single, living in a foreign land, and you know about the not being thin part. I think I am those things, but not out of conceit. I say these affirmations because I think what we say can affect how we feel. And if no one tells me something good, I can at least count on myself stepping in - daily.
  5. I feel like shit today. So I am writing to change my mood.
  6. It has worked.
That's all for now.
